Guillaume Turgeon

Guillaume Turgeon studied viola at college and enjoyed a career as a cabinetmaker, before joining the National School of Violinmaking (Quebec City, Canada). After obtaining his degree in 2007, he joined the workshop of Pier Bergeron, where he spent several years deepening his knowledge of setting up, repairing and restoring instruments. His apprenticeship continued with luthiers Jean-Benoît Stensland and Thérèse Girard with whom he made new instruments full time.

From 2015, he shared a workshop in Montreal with Fabienne Gauchet until 2022. At that moment, along with Isabelle Wilbaux and Louis Gord, they opened the Collectif Lutherie Montreal. The Collectif is a shared workshop for violin and bow makers where 11 independent artisans work together, organize conferences and lessons and take crafting instruments and their bows to the next level.
